Northern Marianas College business department chair and the institution\u2019s senate faculty president Dr. John Griffin has retired after two years of working for the college.<\/p>\n
He told Saipan Tribune yesterday that his retirement will take effect on Feb. 17. Griffin said his family will relocate to San Diego.<\/p>\n
He, however, promised to come back to the islands for occasional visits in the future.<\/p>\n
Griffin said John Cook will serve as acting faculty senate president when he steps down in February until a new leader is elected next month.<\/p>\n
Griffin became the business department chairperson in February 2010, replacing Eric Plinske who retired in 2008.<\/p>\n
Griffin began his employment at NMC as an instructor and department chairperson, initially on Rota and later on Saipan.<\/p>\n
He described all the years he served NMC as a \u201cfabulous experience.\u201d<\/p>\n
Griffin is also a retired U.S. Naval commander with more than a dozen awards and decorations during a quarter century of active duty with service from Vietnam to Iraq. <\/p>\n
He has also more than three decades of collegiate undergraduate and graduate teaching experience in such places as Japan, Puerto Rico, Florida, Cuba, and the Marianas. <\/p>\n
Griffin received a bachelor degree in General Studies in Business from the University of Maryland, a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management from Pepperdine University in Malibu, a Master of Public Administration and a Master of Science in Educational Leadership from Troy State University in Alabama, and a Doctorate of Business Administration from University of Sarasota in Florida. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
