{"id":157744,"date":"2011-12-29T21:57:00","date_gmt":"2011-12-29T21:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bdd09877-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2011-12-29T21:57:00","modified_gmt":"2011-12-29T21:57:00","slug":"bdd09888-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bdd09888-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"CNMI hosts beach volleyball Olympic qualifier"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI hosted its first-ever Asian Volleyball Confederation Beach Volleyball Oceania Continental Sub Zonal tournament at Pacific Islands Club last March.<\/p>\n<p>Host team CNMI competed against national representative teams from Australia, Guam, and Papau New Guinea.<\/p>\n<p>Similar campaigns were held in the Eastern, Central, Southeastern and Western zones. These zones featured two sub zonal tourneys apiece, while Oceania held three.<\/p>\n<p>The event was formatted with men and women\u2019s squads competing in two-person teams.<\/p>\n<p>In sub zonal play on Saipan, the CNMI\u2019s Melody Matson and Amanda Clarkson defeated Papau New Guinea\u2019s Dianne John and Hazel Ruga, 15-12, in a deciding golden set to finish second place behind Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The result was good enough for the CNMI to earn passage to the zonal level of competition.<\/p>\n<p>The CNMI men\u2019s team faced some tough competition and were not so fortunate in their run.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, Matson and Clarkson have since relocated, but the CNMI has patched together a new squad and is currently training with hopes of participating in 9 AVC Zonal event which will be held in New Zealand in 2012.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI hosted its first-ever Asian Volleyball Confederation Beach Volleyball Oceania Continental Sub Zonal tournament at Pacific Islands Club last March.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-157744","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/157744","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=157744"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/157744\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=157744"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=157744"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=157744"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
