The musical and dance talents of Koblerville Elementary School\u2019s Umang Glee Club entertained clients at the Aging Center on Thursday. About 30 young members of the award-winning group performed holiday numbers for some 40 senior citizens.<\/p>\n
Karen Alla, group co-conductor, said the students spent about two weeks preparing for their presentation that included song and dance numbers in different languages, much to the delight of the man\u2019amko, who clapped and swayed to the lively music.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think this is our fourth year to visit them and every year, they always enjoy our performances,\u201d Alla told Saipan Tribune. <\/p>\n
Alla said their annual presentation aims to inspire the island\u2019s elderly that the holiday season is about giving and sharing.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe kids really took the time to be here and share the talents that we cultivated among the members of the Umang Glee Club. I hope we made them all happy,\u201d added Alla.<\/p>\n
Their holiday message to the man\u2019amko? \u201cHappy New Year to all the man\u2019amko. I hope they remain healthy and active and I hope we see them again next year,\u201d Alla said. <\/p>\n
Saipan Seniors Advisory Council treasurer Christiana Michael said the Umang Glee Club did a very good job.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe last few days, a lot of students came here and they\u2019ve all done a good job but the Umang Glee Club was the best one. They all made us feel great,\u201d said Michael, who was among those who sang and danced with the students.<\/p>\n
Michael added, \u201cI hope they continue to nurture their talents and come back again next year. Happy New Year to them and their families.\u201d<\/p>\n
Thursday\u2019s event also celebrated the visit of students from the International Youth Association of Japan or KSKK cultural exchange program; the birthdays of December celebrants Roberto Dela Cruz, Mila Garin, and Maxi Mereb; and the 55th birthday of Pacific Amusement Inc. general manager James Gebhard, who was thrown a surprise party at the center by his wife, Jum.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
