An ex-convict who was indicted in federal court for possession of a firearm and ammunition was remanded into the custody of the U.S. Marshal on Friday.<\/p>\n
Justin A. Funkugub appeared in the U.S. District Court for the NMI with his court-appointed counsel, Ramona Quichocho, late Friday afternoon for his initial appearance.<\/p>\n
Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona set Funkugub\u2019s detention hearing and arraignment for Thursday, Jan. 12 at 1:30pm.<\/p>\n
The indictment charged Funkugub with one count of felon in possession of a firearm; one count of possession of a firearm with a removed, altered, or obliterated serial number; and one count of felon in possession of ammunition.<\/p>\n
According to the indictment filed Thursday, Funkugub was convicted on Sept. 21, 2000, in the Superior Court of cattle killing, which is punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year.<\/p>\n
On Oct. 11, 2011, the defendant allegedly possessed one Smith and Wesson, Model 12-3, .38 caliber snub-nose revolver. The revolver\u2019s manufacturer\u2019s serial number had been removed, altered, or obliterated, a violation of U.S. Code, according to the indictment. <\/p>\n
That same date, Funkugub also allegedly possessed ammunition: six Winchester Super-X .22 caliber bullets.<\/p>\n
The Office of the Attorney General had charged the 35-year-old Funkugub with assault and battery, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and disturbing the peace, over the alleged assault of a relative and firing a handgun in As Teo area on Oct. 11, 2011.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
