Sen. Luis Crisostimo (Ind-Saipan) has been undergoing chemotherapy in California since last year for his throat cancer, and the Senate leadership is calling on the public to include the senator in their prayers.<\/p>\n
Tina Camacho, the senator\u2019s staff on Capital Hill for five years, confirmed yesterday that Crisostimo has been undergoing chemotherapy in Los Angeles, California but that he makes it a point to call his office on Saipan almost every work day to check on matters related to his job as a senator.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s been doing okay, and he calls almost every day,\u201d Camacho told Saipan Tribune. She said she also scans and sends the agenda for each session to Crisostimo.<\/p>\n
Palacios said the senator, a father of three, has a house in Las Vegas but visits California for his chemotherapy.<\/p>\n
Crisostimo missed seven Senate sessions from Oct. 5 to Dec. 28, 2011, based on a review of the Senate\u2019s attendance records for the last quarter of 2011.<\/p>\n
Senate President Paul Manglona (Ind-Rota) said Crisostimo has been on medical leave since October, and that\u2019s why he couldn\u2019t attend the sessions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Senate continues to join the family in praying for the senator\u2019s speedy recovery. We understand that he has a major health issue. We ask the public to pray for Senator Crisostimo and his family,\u201d Manglona said.<\/p>\n
Crisostimo\u2019s wife Mary has also been with Crisostimo since last year. <\/p>\n
Palacios said they originally expected the senator to come back to Saipan in February, unless he needed to stay longer or his medical condition worsens. As of yesterday, there\u2019s no telling whether he will undergo operation, Palacios added.<\/p>\n
\u201cI also ask people to pray for the senator,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s also no telling whether Crisostimo will seek re-election in November, or whether he will be able to finish his term until early January 2013. <\/p>\n
