The Department of Public Works intends to award by the end of the month the contract for the Phase 2B component of the Cross Island Road Improvement Project.<\/p>\n
Phase 2B covers the Kagman intersection up to Capital Hill. It will be funded by a U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration grant and ARRA monies. <\/p>\n
Highway administrator Sonya Pangelinan Dancoe disclosed that four contractors submitted proposals for the project.<\/p>\n
Deadline for the submission of proposal was last Jan. 3.<\/p>\n
Dancoe said all proposals are now being reviewed and evaluated before any final selection is made.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe plan to award the contract by the end of the month,\u201d she told Saipan Tribune. \u201cIt all depends on the time to route the contract to all signatories.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the project\u2019s Phase 2A component, which starts from the Super Blue tank of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. to the Kagman intersection, is about 75 percent complete.<\/p>\n
Phase 1, which begins near the San Vicente-Dandan intersection and ends at the CUC Super blue Tank in Papago, is now on its pre-final stage, said Dancoe. This means DPW will assess if the contractor was able to meet the requirements of the contract and also serves as an opportunity to address any minor improvements on the project.<\/p>\n
