He arrived on Jan. 22 and has been visiting CNMI schools, playing and discussing music with students. This is Rudnytsky\u2019s third trip to the CNMI; he was last here in 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Rudnytsky travels at his own expense and donates his time to the community. He performed in Guam last week and will be off to Kwajalein, Majuro and elsewhere in the Pacific Islands.<\/p>\n<p>FOA will be presenting \u201cRudnytsky in Concert: An Evening of Magical Music,\u201d at 6pm on Jan. 29 at Pacific Islands Club\u2019s Charley\u2019s Cabaret. The cost of the program is $15 for FOA members, $20 for non-member adults and $10 for students. <\/p>\n<p>Tickets will be available at the door. For reservations email: fgibson@yahoo.com or call Frank Gibson at 287-7476.<\/p>\n<p>About Roman Rudnytsky<\/p>\n<p>Rudnytsky is an internationally active concert pianist of Ukrainian background whose frequent performances take him all over the world. He is one of the most traveled of all concert pianists. As of 2010, he has performed in about 95 countries. <\/p>\n<p>Born in New York into a prominent Ukrainian musical family, he began the study of piano at age 4 and gave his first full recital at age 7. He is a graduate of the famous Juilliard School in New York and also did additional studies at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, Maryland and at masterclasses in Austria (the \u201cMozarteum\u201d) and Italy. <\/p>\n<p>Rudnytsky is a prizewinner in 10 piano competitions, including such prestigious ones as the International Leventritt Competition (New York) and International J.S. Bach Competition (Washington) and, in Italy, the \u201cF.Busoni\u201d and \u201cA. Casagrande\u201d International Piano Competitions. He has made numerous recordings in Poland, Australia and the United States. <\/p>\n<p>Rudnytsky has also appeared as a soloist with many orchestras around the world. He also conducts master classes and workshops for local piano students and teachers during the course of his travels. <\/p>\n<p>Since 1972, Rudnytsky has been a member of the piano faculty of the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio (U.S.A.). He is a recipient of that institution\u2019s \u201cDistinguished Professor Award\u201d in recognition of his concert activities.
