He carded a net 71 in the opening round played on Jan. 15 at the Kingfisher Golf Links after tallying a 53 and 50 on the front and back nines. In the second round, Piamonte logged a 53 in the first nine holes and a 49 in the last.<\/p>\n<p>For his feat, Piamonte took home a trophy, $300 cash prize, and free round of golf courtesy of MCC  Piamonte edged co-runners up Ruben Avendano and Rene Batallones by a stroke, while William Retardo rounded out the Top 4 with a combined net score of 149.<\/p>\n<p>Eighteen of the 21 registered golfers completed both rounds.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday\u2019s event also coupled as the club\u2019s January Ace of the Month tournament.<\/p>\n<p>James Mitchell and Richard Atalig topped a field of 28 golfers to take the January Ace titles. Since over 20 participants turned out for the 2012 season-opening event, by rule the tournament was divided into two groups.<\/p>\n<p>B field\u2019s Mitchell posted a 41 on the front nine and finished the round with a 51 on the back for a gross score of 93 that adjusted into a net count of 70.<\/p>\n<p>Atalig grossed a 42 on the first nine holes and pulled into the clubhouse with another 42 for a raw card of 84, which was calculated into a net 71. The pair won modest cash prizes and entrees to the 2012 finale tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Batallones settled for another runner-up finish as he came just one shot short of taking the January Ace honors. He grossed an 82 for a net score of 73, while Retardo turned in a gross 81 for a net 74 that tied Piamonte, Randy Tudela, and Jess Yumul for fourth place.
