Noriko Togawa topped a field of 15 to win the first CNMI Women\u2019s Golf Association Ace of the Month held last Jan. 14 at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort\u2019s west course.<\/p>\n
Togawa split a pair of 38s on both the front and back to finish the round with a gross total of 76 that adjusted into a field-low 72 net score.<\/p>\n
Togawa became the first qualifier in the club\u2019s yearend tournament and also accrued 15 points for a nice jumpstart on the season. Coincidentally she also posted the lowest gross score of the day.<\/p>\n
Daughter Yuko Togawa finished just one stroke back in second place. <\/p>\n
She started with a 41 on the first nine holes, but recovered after the turn with a 36 for a gross card of 77 that worked into a 73 net count. Yuko Togawa was awarded 14 points for her runner-up honors.<\/p>\n
Chang Eun Ae rounded out the third spot, going out with a 47 and finished with a 43 on the back set for a raw tally of 90 that adjusted into a 74 net score. <\/p>\n
Chang received 13 points, with fourth through 10th places receiving points in descending order; and all other participants being issued a point for attendance.<\/p>\n
The points are tallied throughout the season, and the player that accumulates the most wins top prize at the CWGA\u2019s finale.<\/p>\n
Established in March 2007, the CWGA is a nonprofit organization founded to promote, encourage, and introduce women to the sport of golf in the CNMI.<\/p>\n
Its organizational goals consist of promoting civic and community interest in golf; establishing and encouraging competition and good sportsmanship; promoting and providing social functions of its members and families; promoting youth golf activities; and doing all things necessary and proper to accomplish its purpose and intentions.<\/p>\n
CWGA members also pledge to abide by a set of values that will further enrich a golfer\u2019s performance, attitude and conduct. Such values were adopted from the USA Junior Golf Association. They include perseverance, sportsmanship, respect, honesty, judgment, responsibility, reliance, courtesy and sincerity.<\/p>\n
