{"id":159179,"date":"2012-02-24T20:58:00","date_gmt":"2012-02-24T20:58:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/be3ebed7-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2012-02-24T20:58:00","modified_gmt":"2012-02-24T20:58:00","slug":"be3ebeea-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/be3ebeea-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Driver of car that hit boy, 11, was a male tourist"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The driver of the car that hit an 11-year-old student along Middle Road in As Mahetog Wednesday afternoon was a male tourist, according to police yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Police officer Jason Tarkong said a Japanese tourist was driving the Toyota Camry that hit the boy.<\/p>\n<p>Tarkong said the tourist was not arrested as further investigation was conducted.<\/p>\n<p>Tarkong said the Department of Public Safety Central dispatched traffic police officers on Wednesday at 2:40pm to Chalan Pale Arnold (Middle Road) in As Mahetog by the entrance to a road leading to the Saipan Zoo for a reported auto-pedestrian crash.<\/p>\n<p>The crash occurred on the southbound inner lane of the highway.<\/p>\n<p>When police officers arrived at the scene, they saw a silver 2007 four-door Toyota Camry that sustained damage to the front right passenger side.<\/p>\n<p>Also at the scene was a Public School System bus parked along the southbound lane.<\/p>\n<p>Tarkong said preliminary investigation showed that an 11-year-old Palauan national was crossing the highway when the Toyota Camry hit him.<\/p>\n<p>The Toyota Camry was traveling south on the inner lane when it hit the boy moments after he got off the bus. <\/p>\n<p>Emergency medical technicians brought the boy to the Commonwealth Health Center for further treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Trent Scheibe determined that the boy sustained multiple fractures in the right lower leg and was admitted for further observation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The driver of the car that hit an 11-year-old student along Middle Road in As Mahetog Wednesday afternoon was a male tourist, according to police yesterday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-159179","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/159179","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=159179"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/159179\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=159179"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=159179"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=159179"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
