Camacho on Friday denied a motion to modify the bail conditions imposed on an ex-convict who is facing charges of conspiracy to steal a car and sell off its parts.

Camacho determined that Calistro Acosta Crisostimo’s mother, the proposed third-party custodian, is elderly, very ill, and therefore not suitable to supervise the suspect.

Camacho also found out that the property bond being proposed is the same lot already used in Crisostimo’s other active case.

Crisostimo is also facing contempt charges for violating his house arrest condition when he left to commit the present alleged crimes.

The judge remanded him to the Department of Corrections. Attorney Rosemond Santos served as counsel for the 28-year-old Crisostimo.

Santos asked the court to modify the current condition of no bail to a property bond and release to a third party custodian.

The government opposed the bail modification, citing Crisostimo’s 16-year criminal history.

Police said a car belonging to Gwang Hee Chu that was parked at Moon Night Poker in Chalan Kanoa was stolen on Dec. 8, 2011. On Dec. 25, 2011, police officers found the car in Upper Navy Hill.
