The five-person team from Admiral Herbert G. Hopwood Junior High School won second place at the 10th Annual Jr. High Academic Bee Challenge Bowl held at the Saipan Southern High School last Feb. 25.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
The team first competed at individuals at the school level competition with a total of 39 competitors.\u00a0 The members of the team are Masrur Alam, Mikhail Alcantara, Joshua Mendiola, Eliezha Mendoza, and Edna Nisola.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
The team\u2019s coaches are Carmelita Ada and Sharleen Crisostimo.\u00a0 The team would like to thank their parents and families, principal, Jonas Barcinas, vice principals John Pialur and Epi Cabrera, their cohort team teachers and all AHGHJHS teachers and staff for their support, especially\u00a0Victoria Nishida, Ruby Hocog and Freddy Salavaria.\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n
[B]Hopwood hails STEM Fair winners[\/B]<\/p>\n
Hopwood Junior High School also held its school level STEM Fair last Feb. 15.\u00a0 The following students participated in the competition: Marvin Seman, Jamila Alegre, Panida Eitz, Dianne Sabino, Ilyssa Geronimo, Hannah\u00a0 Hofschneider, Yea Rin Kwon, Angel Pamintuan, Mikayla Lopez, Mikhail Alcantara, Kyle Egan, Pan Rou Lun, Pauline Salazar, Rhea Banados, Fariha Omar, Vanessa Gramlich, Patrick Agustin, Chrystalle Lloren, Rhgen Puntilar, Myrnel Fukuichi, Tins Islam, Noshin Omar, Lee Yeji, Josephine Estrada, Djaymarch Ong, Jayrald Mercene, Robert Malate, Ezekiel Rafanan, Joshua Zulueta, and Ann Margaret Norcio.\u00a0<\/p>\n
First place went to Patrick Agustin.\u00a0Second place was a three-way tie and went to Kyle Egan, Mikayla Lopez, and Ann Margaret Norcio.\u00a0Third place went to Hannah Hofschneider.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
Two honorable mentions went to Vanessa Gramlich and Ruo Lun Pan.\u00a0 These seven top scoring students represented the school at the island-wide STEM Fair held at Saipan Southern High last March 3, 2012.\u00a0 Congratulations to all the students.\u00a0 Special thanks to their parents, guardians, and teachers for their support, to Mr. Jonas Barcinas, Mr. Brian Morris, and Ms. Livia Pangelinan for judging, all science teachers, AHGHJHS Journalism class, Mr. Freddy Salavaria, and Pacific Amusement Inc. for the beautiful trophies.
