{"id":159847,"date":"2012-03-21T18:43:00","date_gmt":"2012-03-21T18:43:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bf263046-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2012-03-21T18:43:00","modified_gmt":"2012-03-21T18:43:00","slug":"bf263057-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bf263057-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Triple J steps up for 2012 MMAC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Triple J Enterprises, which owns several businesses on island including restaurants, a retail store, and car dealership, is sponsoring for the first time the annual Marianas March Against Cancer in April. <\/p>\n<p>Jay Santos, Triple J Saipan marketing manager, presented the company\u2019s $1,000 donation for this year\u2019s event slated for April 27 to 28, 6pm to 6am at the Hopwood Jr. High School field.<\/p>\n<p>Santos, who handed the donation to the 2012 MMAC committee members at the Triple J Super Fresh Market yesterday, thanked and congratulated the committee on behalf of Triple J founder Robert \u201cBob\u201d Jones and the Jones family for organizing a worthwhile cause.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCancer is a horrible thing,\u201d said Santos. \u201cUnfortunately, the Triple J family has had members challenged with this disease and it is only fitting that we support this year\u2019s MMAC and future functions as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope causes like this will help find a cure for cancer which has been around way too long,\u201d added Santos.<\/p>\n<p>Catherine Atttao-Toves, overall committee chair, said it is always great to have new sponsors come on board to support the largest and signature fundraising event of the Commonwealth Cancer Association.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe greatly appreciate the support and contribution that Triple J is giving us. We thank them for their generosity,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>This year marks the 10th anniversary of MMAC, a 12-hour overnight event that features teams competing for various prizes, selling of luminaries, shirts, and raffle tickets to raise funds to fight cancer in the Commonwealth.
