Benigno R. Fitial said yesterday it is \u201cpremature\u201d to make any judgment on the allegations being hurled against Department of Public Safety Commissioner Ramon C. Mafnas, adding that he would yield to the results of the Office of the Attorney General\u2019s ongoing investigation on these allegations.<\/p>\n<p>The governor placed Mafnas on administrative leave on Monday to pave the way for a thorough and fair investigation, and to prevent disruption of DPS services. Mafnas was the governor\u2019s former senior policy adviser. <\/p>\n<p>Fitial said what he believes doesn\u2019t really matter, and what matters is \u201cwhatever result the investigation yields.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the governor is disappointed \u201cto see such allegations arise\u201d because he \u201cplaces his faith and confidence in his appointees,\u201d press secretary Angel Demapan said \u201cthis early, it is premature to make any judgment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lt. Gov. Eloy S. Inos and Inos separately said the administration is concerned about the allegations but they want to ensure that each of these allegations is thoroughly and fairly investigated.<\/p>\n<p>OAG\u2019s three main areas of investigation are the complaints filed by two security guards and dive instructor; the allegations contained in a petition signed by DPS employees; and a letter from a police captain alleging that Mafnas interfered with a murder investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Fitial said he expects to receive preliminary investigation report from OAG. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Gov.
