{"id":160258,"date":"2012-04-08T21:57:00","date_gmt":"2012-04-08T21:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bf5aae75-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2012-04-08T21:57:00","modified_gmt":"2012-04-08T21:57:00","slug":"bf5aae85-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/bf5aae85-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Rookies notch first win of season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Rookies finally broke into the win column after pulling off an upset over Enamo Meta, 13-11, during last week\u2019s women\u2019s game in the Chamolinian Softball Association 2012 Budweiser Slow-Pitch League at the Capital Hill Ballfield.<\/p>\n<p>Enamo Meta overcame an early 1-4 deficit in the opening frame and moved in front, 6-4, in the bottom of the second inning primarily off errors.<\/p>\n<p>The Rookies cleaned up their game from the batters box and cranked out five hits in the top of the third to shoot ahead, 10-7. Nadine Camacho busted a two-RBI double and Connie Lizama bagged an RBI single. The Rookies added a run off a fielder\u2019s choice in the fourth and each team mustered a run in the fifth, shifting the count to, 12-8, heading into the final stand. <\/p>\n<p>Enamo Meta loaded the bases with two outs, but the Rookies held strong for the win.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile,  a couple of nail-biters stood out in this week\u2019s men\u2019s pairings as Six Pack escaped past Berdax, 24-23, last Monday and Elias barely got away from the G-Ballers, 14-13, last Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>In other results, Natibu defeated Talu Fahn, 19-8, while X-cluisve downed Familia, 23-13, and Man Amigos spanked SaiPal, 19-4. Man Amigos (4-0) and Natibu (5-0), are at the helm again this year and remain the only undefeated teams in the men\u2019s field.<\/p>\n<p>Behind them are the Manelos (3-1), Your Balls (3-1), Berdax (3-2), Gagu Eyez (3-2), Elias (2-1), X-clusive (3-3), Six Pack (2-2), Familia (2-3), G-Ballers (2-3), SaiPal (2-4), The Warriors (1-3), Talu Fahn (1-5) and Managaha (0-5).<\/p>\n<p>Check It Out has extended its streak to four and leads the women\u2019s field by two games.  The defending champion Sakudi is in second place with an even 2-2 record, while the 670 Babes (1-2), Rookies, and Enamo Meta (1-3) all still within range.<\/p>\n<p>[B]Six Pack 24, Berdax 23[\/B]<\/p>\n<p>Six Pack managed a 7-1 lead through three frames, however Berdex threatened, 14-15, after the fourth inning.<\/p>\n<p>Berdax cranked out 12 hits including a pair of home runs by Franco Flores and Alingmar Ogumoro, but Six Pack maintained the slight edge with eight runs off six hits in the bottom frame. Tom Joab smashed a two-RBI base hit, Melvin Aldan and DJ Omar bagged RBI singles, and Lucian George had RBI double.<\/p>\n<p>Six Pack remained in front, 19-17, in the fifth off another six hits, before Berdax responded with six runs in the top of the seventh off a pair of two-RBIs singles by Jack Guerrero and Chad Atalig. However, Six Pack bit down with two outs in the bottom frame to pull out the win.<br \/>\n[B]<br \/>\nNatibu 18, Talu Fahn 9[\/B]<\/p>\n<p>Natibu went ahead 12-4, but Talu Fahn did not go away and was still in the game, 8-14, after the fourth inning.<\/p>\n<p>Then two leadoff walks set up a pair of RBI singles from Bruce Norita and Oscar Secharmedal and a two-RBI double from Aaron Benavente to give Natibu more distance. The other runs came in off a base smash by JR Suel and errors.<\/p>\n<p>Talu Fahn\u2019s offense dwindled in the late innings as it only managed one run to start the fifth, while Natibu added four more runs in the bottom frame from a double by Jerry Guerrero, a two-run blast by Jess Tagabuel and a sacrifice fly by Victor Salas.<\/p>\n<p>[B]Elias 14, G-Ballers 13[\/B]<\/p>\n<p>Elias went ahead, 3-2, off a sacrifice fly by Rodney Camacho in the bottom of the second inning. Each team had a two-run homer early in the match.<\/p>\n<p>The G-Ballers claimed he lead, 6-3, in the top of the third inning off a three-run blast by Paul Salalila and an error. Then the count shifted to 12-6, still for G-Ballers, as both teams put up six runs in the fourth inning.<\/p>\n<p>Elias roared back to within a run in the bottom of the fifth with six hits, including an RBI single by Ben Tagabuel, a three-run homer by Glenn Camacho and a solo shot by JP Sablan. As the G-Ballers engine stalled for the second time in a row, Elias snuck in front, 13-12, in the sixth off an error and a sacrifice fly by Jordan Tagabuel. <\/p>\n<p>The G-Ballers\u2019 Salalila tied the match with one swing in the top of the seventh inning, but Elias was gifted the win off an error early in the bottom frame.<br \/>\n[B]<br \/>\nX-clusive 23, Familia 13[\/B]<\/p>\n<p>X-clusive built an early 3-1 edge in the first frame off a pair of long balls by Jack Delos Santos and Vince Cepeda and jumped further ahead, 10-3, in the bottom of the second off five hits. McQueen Masaharu hit two-RBI single, Ben Sablan had an RBI base knock, and Mike Manas made a grand slam.<\/p>\n<p>The count shifted to 12-8, in the third after a pair of two-RBI smashes by Familia\u2019s Shaun Iguel and Lawrence Dikito. X-clusive\u2019s runs came from a pair of RBI singles by John Acosta and Masaharu in the bottom frame.<\/p>\n<p>X-clusive remained in control, 16-10, after the fourth frame with another five hits in the bottom half of the inning. Familia managed a couple runs via sacrifice flies, while X-clusives\u2019 Cepeda nailed a two-RBI single before being driven home by Dennis Ngeskebei. Familia\u2019s Kolin Reyes left the yard for three runs to start the fifth, but X-clusive produced the seven runs needed for the early decision in the bottom frame.<\/p>\n<p>[B]Man Amigos 19, SaiPal 4[\/B]<\/p>\n<p>Man Amigos put up eight runs as they batted through the lineup in the first inning.  Manny Sablan bashed a three-run homer and Jeff Cabrera hammered a two-run shot.<\/p>\n<p>They then catapulted ahead, 19-0, in the top of the second doff another dozen hits and a sacrifice fly by Eric Palacios.
