{"id":16108,"date":"2011-10-24T06:30:28","date_gmt":"2011-10-24T06:30:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/newspaper.ctsi-logistics.com\/?p=16108"},"modified":"2011-10-24T06:30:28","modified_gmt":"2011-10-24T06:30:28","slug":"teenager-gets-72-hour-jail-term-for-playing-with-lighter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/teenager-gets-72-hour-jail-term-for-playing-with-lighter\/","title":{"rendered":"Teenager gets 72-hour jail term for playing with lighter"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>By Ferdie de la Torre<br \/>\nReporter<\/div>\n<p>The Superior Court has slapped a 72-hour jail term against a teenager who acted as if she was going to set on fire their kitchen table.<\/p>\n<p>Associate judge David Wiseman sentenced the 19-year-old Kaholani Lynn Hocog to three months in jail, all suspended except for the 72 hours that she already served in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Wiseman placed Hocog on probation for six months and ordered her to perform 50 hours of community work service.<\/p>\n<p>The judge required the defendant to complete anger management counseling and submit to an alcohol and drug assessment.<\/p>\n<p>Hocog was ordered to pay a $100 fine and $25 court assessment fee, plus a probation fee.<\/p>\n<p>Wiseman said upon successful completion of the sentence, Hocog will be discharged and the judgment of conviction will be vacated.<\/p>\n<p>The Office of the Attorney General charged Hocog with assault and battery and disturbing the peace.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace. The OAG dismissed the remaining charge.<\/p>\n<p>The plea agreement stated that on April 7, 2011 on Saipan, Hocog threw pillows at her sister and her sister&#8217;s children.<\/p>\n<p>The defendant then acted as if she was going to set the kitchen table on fire.<\/p>\n<p>Detective Catherine B.
