Kagman is still searching for its first win in both the JV and varsity divisions. The Lady Ayuyus (0-3) will go win No. 1 in the varsity division tomorrow when they face Saipan International School at 4:30pm.

The varsity Lady Dolphins sprung out to an early 16-4 lead in the opening 10 minutes behind the eight points of Rachel Abrams.

Then in the second quarter, five MHS players chipped in to pad the lead at halftime, 30-11. Abrams led MHS with 11 points in the first half, while KHS struggled to get the ball to their mainstay, forward Elilai Pialug.

MHS continued to dominate KHS defensively, holding it opponents to just seven markers in the third quarter to shot ahead, 42-18. MHS called off the dogs in the final period, as the win was already in the bag.

Abrams led all scorers with 13 points, while Pialug managed 10 on the short end.

In the junior varsity pairing, MHS built an early 11-4 lead in the opening period, thanks largely to Krizandra Gozon’s five points.

The Lady Dolphins’ defense then stuffed KHS to one basket in the second quarter for an 18-6 halftime advantage. Gozon added three more markers in the period.

After the pause, Gozon kept it rolling with eight more points in the third quarter, as MHS still led by double digits, 28-12, heading into the final period.

Mariane Lumabi took over for MHS in the fourth quarter with six points to secure the win. Gozon finished with a game-high 16 points.

First Game

MHS 30 – Gozon 16, Lumabi 8, Ocampo 6, Santiago 4, Echavez 2, Morales 2.

KHS 16 – Jowanda 6, Palacios 4, Castro 2, Natasha 2, Vayda 2.

Scoring by quarters: 11-4, 18-6, 28-12, 38-16.

Second Game

MHS 46 – Abrams 13, Castillo 7, Wiliams 6, Johnson 4, Lumasag 4, Rangamar 4, Mendoza 4, Alegre 2, Sadong 2.

KHS 31 – Pialug 10, Ada 7, Lara 4, Jetly 4, Pelep 2, Halstead 2, Camacho 2.

Scoring by quarters: 16-4, 30-11, 42-18, 46-31.

By Walter J.
