Sutherland<br \/>\nReporter<\/div>\n<p>Saipan Community School, Hopwood Junior High School, and Marianas High School dominated their respective divisions in the Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization&#8217;s All-School&#8217;s X-Country season opener held last Saturday at the CPA Airport Field.<\/p>\n<p>The season is set to pick up on Nov. 5 at the Civic Center Basketball Court; registration takes place at 3pm and the races start at 4pm.<\/p>\n<p>SCS&#8217; Jason Sablan and John Hong finished first and second in the U8 boys 2-kilometer race, while SIS&#8217; Khush Daryanani settled for third place.<\/p>\n<p>Sablan posted a time of 9:04, Hong 9:23, and Daryanani 12:23.<\/p>\n<p>SCS&#8217; Michael Lee and Vincent Tudela topped the 2-km in the boys U10, ahead of third place runner Jeter Jenkins of SIS.<\/p>\n<p>Lee&#8217;s mark of 9:23 led the bunch ahead of teammate Tudela&#8217;s 9:39, while Jenkins crossed the finish line at 10:02.<\/p>\n<p>Lone girls U10 competitor Joshalyn Flores, of Garapan Elementary School, ran the 2-km course in 9:56.<\/p>\n<p>HJHS&#8217;s Djamarch Ong beat out seven other U12 boys runners with a time of 14:26 in the 4-km.<\/p>\n<p>SCS&#8217; Elnathan Wong (15:30) and Carl Dela Cruz (17:00) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>SCS swept the podium in the U12 girls division. Tammy Ackerman led a field of five with a strong time of 15:32, ahead of teammates Seung Yeon Han (20:06) and Shirley Qian (20:42).<\/p>\n<p>HJHS then swept the boys U14 podium in the 4-km race as Berneil Taisacan led a group of seven with a time of 14:27. His teammates Juan DeLeon Guerrero (15:07) and Joshua Mendiola (15:30) finished second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Notably, lone girls U14 competitor Rumina Litulumar, of HJHS, finished the same course ahead of the boys in 13:18.<\/p>\n<p>MHS was the only school present for the U18 boys division. Of the nine-man team, Michael Mancao, Charles Bautista, and Frank Gu finished in the Top 3. Mancao led the pack with a time of 20:24, Bautisata came in second with a 20:37, and Gu rounded out the third spot with a 23:30.<\/p>\n<p>MHS also dominated the girls U18 field as all eight of its runners finished ahead of a trio of SIS Lady Geckos.<\/p>\n<p>In the end, MHS&#8217; Chris Obaldo, Clarisse Cayabyan, and Shane Fabiana finished 1-2-3 with their respective times of 28:35, 31:01, and 31:23.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Walter J.
