A jury trial is ongoing in the Superior Court of two men accused of conspiring with others in burglarizing a warehouse in Afetnas and stealing copper wires and tools last year. <\/p>\n
As of late yesterday afternoon, the government\u2019s third witness, Woon Soo Chung, 64, completed his testimony in the trial of defendants Sonny Babauta and Petrus Anastacio. <\/p>\n
Chung was the person in charge of guarding the Han Nam warehouse, formerly known as the Onu Moda Factory.<\/p>\n
Chung testified how he noticed the break-in when the padlock of the warehouse was broken in the early morning of Dec. 19, 2012. <\/p>\n
That night, he said, he noticed noise in the warehouse, but he ignored it because it was raining and windy at that time.<\/p>\n
Chung said the copper wires were returned after police\u2019s investigation, but the other items were not.<\/p>\n
Two other police officers\u2014John Cabrera and Jesus Cepeda\u2014also already testified at the trial.<\/p>\n
According to the prosecution, Fiden Hamo twice entered the warehouse, with co-defendants Babauta, Jeffrey Lizama, and Matthias Salisban.<\/p>\n
Upon entering the warehouse, Hamo along with co-defendants, allegedly stole copper wires, power tools, and other items. The group, along with Anastacio, allegedly transported, altered, and stored the copper wires for resale.<\/p>\n
Assistant attorneys general Chemere McField and Margo Brown are prosecuting the case. Defense attorneys Joaquin Torres and William Fitzgerald are counsels for Babauta and Anastacio respectively.<\/p>\n
