ASAN, Guam\u2014The U.S. military will conduct training at Warning Area 517 during the following dates and times: <\/p>\n
– Dec. 9, from 9am-10:30am <\/p>\n
– Dec. 10, from noon to 3pm <\/p>\n
– Dec. 11, from 8:30am to 5pm <\/p>\n
– Dec. 12, from 1:30pm-4:30pm<\/p>\n
The military will also conduct training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla during the following dates and times: <\/p>\n
– Dec. 8, from 8am to 5pm <\/p>\n
– Dec. 9, from 7am to 8pm <\/p>\n
– Dec. 10, from 7am to 11:59pm <\/p>\n
– Dec. 11 and 12, from 12:01am to 11:59pm <\/p>\n
– Dec. 13, from 12:01am-10am <\/p>\n
The general public\u2014especially fishermen, commercial pilots, and marine tour operators\u2014are advised to stay clear from the area during the times and dates indicated.<\/p>\n
W-517 is activated south of latitude 12\u00b0 00\u2019 00″N. All vessels are advised to remain clear of W-517 South of latitude 12\u00b0 00\u2019 00″N. Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank are open for public use. <\/p>\n
W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprising of 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. W-517 supports surface and aerial gunnery, missiles, and laser exercises. This will affect fishing in the vicinity of Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank. W-517 is contained within the following coordinates: 13\u00b0 10″N\/144\u00b0 30″E, 13\u00b0 10″N\/144\u00b0 42″E, 12\u00b0 50″N\/144\u00b0 45″E, 11\u00b0 00″N\/144\u00b0 45″E, 11\u00b0 00″N\/143\u00b0 00″E, 11\u00b0 45″N\/143\u00b0 00″E, 12\u00b0 50″N\/144\u00b0 30″E.<\/p>\n
The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla training area will be on a 10 nautical mile radius on all quadrants. Farallon de Medinilla plays a special and unique role in national defense because its location provides access frequency that supports established training requirements. In addition, the air and sea space in the Farallon provides sufficient room for the many different attack profiles necessary to replicate training opportunities in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
