David)\" width=\"100\" height=\"67\" border=\"0\" \/>\u00a0The Marianas Eye Institute held for the first time yesterday a free vision checkup for the man&#8217;amko at the Aging Center.<\/p>\n<p>Marianas Eye Institute&#8217;s Dr. Edward Godnig conducted the screening with technician Vanessa Kisa, certified ophthalmic medical \u00a0assistant Emily Taitano, and Taitano&#8217;s daughter, Rita, who volunteered as she aspires to pursue a career in the same field.<\/p>\n<p>Kisa and Taitano checked the man&#8217;amko&#8217;s blood pressure and blood sugar levels first before they were examined by Godnig.<\/p>\n<p>Marianas Eye Institute staffers will continue with the free vision screening at the center today.<\/p>\n<p>Taitano said in an interview that their outreach for the island&#8217;s elderly is part of the community service of Marianas Eye Institute, which has also been going to public schools since the opening of classes to provide free eye checkup to students.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt&#8217;s a good feeling knowing that we are able to reach out to the man&#8217;amko,\u201d Taitano told Saipan Tribune. \u201cI know there&#8217;s a lot of them who need to get their eyes checked but are not able to because of lack of transportation and other problems so we&#8217;re happy to provide this service to them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Client Maxi Mereb said she needs to get her vision checked to know if she is using the right reading glasses. \u201cI&#8217;m happy that they&#8217;re here to help the man&#8217;amko,\u201d said Mereb, who is a patient of Marianas Eye Institute&#8217;s Dr. David Khorram.<\/p>\n<p>Alejandra Blas said she needs to see a doctor because she wants to change her eyeglasses, which she has been using for over five years. \u201cMaybe I cannot see well with these glasses.
