A pickup truck driven by an allegedly intoxicated man swerved, ran off the road, and went airborne after it hit a bunker, injuring all its seven occupants, last Nov. 30 in Dandan. <\/p>\n
Department of Public Safety spokesman Travis Hurst said he just released yesterday the information about the crash as the investigation report had just been finalized.<\/p>\n
Hurst said the driver sustained a fractured left arm and was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after a blood draw at the Commonwealth Health Center found him to have a Blood Alcohol Content of .115g of alcohol per 100 milliliter of blood.<\/p>\n
In the CNMI, a person driving with a BAC of .08 or higher will be arrested for DUI.<\/p>\n
A male juvenile seated in the cabin sustained a fractured right leg. A female who was also in the cabin suffered a fractured collarbone.<\/p>\n
All four passengers seated in the bed of the truck were all ejected and suffered minor bruises and cuts.<\/p>\n
Hurst said police officer Adrian Mendiola was dispatched to Dandan by the Japanese bunker area on Nov. 30, 2013, at 3:21pm where an auto crash occurred.<\/p>\n
Mendiola learned that the white Ford Ranger pickup truck was traveling north on Flame Tree Road when it lost control and slid to the grassy area.<\/p>\n
The truck hit the bunker, causing it to go airborne and ejecting all four passengers seated in the bed.<\/p>\n
During the investigation, Mendiola detected and found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol.<\/p>\n
