{"id":175169,"date":"2014-01-16T14:59:00","date_gmt":"2014-01-16T14:59:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/c2926768-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2014-01-16T14:59:00","modified_gmt":"2014-01-16T14:59:00","slug":"c292677c-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/c292677c-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama withholds return to CNMI of 5 islands\u2019 submerged lands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Barack Obama withheld today the conveyance or return to the CNMI of submerged lands surrounding five of its 14 islands \u2013 Farallon de Pajaros (Uracas), Maug, Asuncion, Tinian and Farallon de Medinilla.<\/p>\n<p>This means the CNMI will still not have control over these islands\u2019 submerged lands, three of which are part of the Marianas Trench Marine National Monument that has yet to have a co-management agreement.
