{"id":175304,"date":"2014-01-22T21:46:00","date_gmt":"2014-01-22T21:46:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/c29cabf6-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e"},"modified":"2014-01-22T21:46:00","modified_gmt":"2014-01-22T21:46:00","slug":"c29cac09-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/c29cac09-1dfb-11e4-aedf-250bc8c9958e\/","title":{"rendered":"SBC\/J\u2019s Restaurant finishes on top"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SBC\/J\u2019s Restaurant clinched the championship in the 50th Philippine Bowling Association Saturday Night League, defeating seven other teams in the 18-week competition.<\/p>\n<p>Playing for the champion squad were Edward Baluyan, Alex Castro, Roger De Guzman, Simeon Eparwa, Percy Omechelang, Paul Pangilinan, Robert Talavera, Dianne Chong, and Kathy Mersai. The title finish in the 50th season and 25 years of the league was a big improvement for SBC\/J\u2019s Restaurant, which placed fourth in the previous contest.<\/p>\n<p>SBC\/J\u2019s Restaurant this time took the championship after earning a 44.5-27.5 record, five wins ahead of runner-up D\u2019Unknown (39.5-32.7 slate). Team Mobil and IT&#038;E rounded out the Top 4 after carding 39-33 and 37-35 win-loss standings, respectively. Completing the rankings were Fiesta Resort &#038; Spa Saipan (36-36), Graphics (36-36), One Shot (28-44), and PIN.net (28-44).<\/p>\n<p>The Top 4 teams were presented with cash prizes during the awards ceremony last Saturday at Kanoa Resort. SBC\/J\u2019s Restaurant was also awarded the championship trophy, while other team and individual plums were handed out at the weekend event.<\/p>\n<p>SBC\/J\u2019s Restaurant got four more team awards after winning the high game scratch (1,111 pinfalls) and high game with handicap contests (1,167) against IT&#038;E (1,029 and 1,165) and high series scratch (3,090) and high series with handicap (3,258) over PIN.net (2,810) and Fiesta Resort &#038; Spa Saipan (3,211), respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In the individual categories, Talavera and Ruselle Zapanta of Fiesta Resort and Spa split the four awards. Talavera topped the high game scratch and high series scratch with his 285 and 690, beating Fiesta\u2019s Raymond Zapanta (278 and 689). Ruselle also prevailed over his sibling in the high game with handicap, 291-188 and high series with handicap, 720-719.<\/p>\n<p>In the women\u2019s division, Graphics\u2019 Gina Sablan reigned supreme in the  high game scratch (244) and high game with handicap (274), while One Shot\u2019s Gloria Omechelang and D\u2019Unknown\u2019s Ron Cal prevailed in the high series scratch (585) and high series with handicap (681), respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In the high average races, Talavera ruled the men\u2019s division after posting 199.76, while Mersai won in the women\u2019s category with her 173.33.
