The House Public Utilities, Transportation and Communications Committee decided yesterday to shelve a Senate joint resolution asking the governor to commence privatizing the Commonwealth Utilities Corp. now that CUC has issued request for proposals to help the CNMI move toward renewable energy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will wait for the results of this RFP. There\u2019s no need to rush the privatization,\u201d House PUTC chairman Larry Deleon Guerrero (Ind-Saipan) told Saipan Tribune after the committee meeting yesterday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The House PUTC panel, however, decided to recommend passage of Rep. Christopher Leon Guerrero\u2019s (Cov-Saipan) bill authorizing management audit of CUC.<\/p>\n
But Deleon Guerrero said the committee report has yet to be finalized so it won\u2019t be acted on in today\u2019s House session.<\/p>\n
The Office of the Public Auditor also expressed its support to the CUC management audit bill, with proposed changes to it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
