{"id":175924,"date":"2014-08-08T04:00:45","date_gmt":"2014-08-07T18:00:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=175924"},"modified":"2014-08-08T04:00:45","modified_gmt":"2014-08-07T18:00:45","slug":"nominations-sought-governors-humanities-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/nominations-sought-governors-humanities-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Nominations sought for Governor\u2019s Humanities Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Marianas Humanities Council is now accepting nominations for the 2014 Governor\u2019s Humanities Awards.<\/p>\n<p>This event, held annually in October as a part of CNMI Humanities Month, recognizes outstanding contributions to the humanities by individuals and organizations in the community.<\/p>\n<p>Nominees should have a notable humanities achievement in the past year, as demonstrated in any of the following four categories: Research and Publication in the Humanities; Preservation of Traditional Cultural Practices; Preservation of CNMI History; and Outstanding Humanities Teacher (in both classroom and non-classroom settings).<\/p>\n<p>A fifth category, Lifetime Achievement, recognizes significant contributions to the humanities over multiple decades. This award may be given posthumously.<\/p>\n<p>The 2013 awardees included Dr. Kurt Barnes, Research and Publication in the Humanities; Rosanna P. Barcinas, Preservation of CNMI History; Donald B.
