Sutherland
Reporter

Trench Tech Purebred Promotions’ Rites of Passage 11: Onra goes down tonight at Saipan World Resort’s Royal Taga Ballroom. Doors open at 7pm and fights start at 8pm.

Notably, there has been a recent change in the triple main event as USA’s Will “The Kill” Chope suffered an injury during training.

Trench Tech president Cuki Alvarez said because of the development Marianas Elite’s Maitai “The Charger” Charley (3-7) will now face Guam’s Kyle Pablo of Mong Mong Toto Maite in a regular fight.

Pablo so far has only one fight under his belt when he won here in Trench Warz 10: Collision.

Alvarez said moving up to the main event is the bout between Trench Tech’s “Badd” Brad Palacios (5-2) and Guam’s The Attack” Limiac (3-4), out of Tsunami Gym.

A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt and Muay Thai fighter, Limiac has been training in the United Kingdom for the past two years. Palacios, meanwhile, is undoubtedly one of Saipan’s best fighters in his weight class.

The second main event, on the other hand, features Trench Tech’s Fasi “Quickdraw” Jesse (7-3) against USA’s Joseph “J.J.” Ambrose (15-3), out of Tiger Muay Thai.

Ambrose holds a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu brown belt and has been training in Thailand for the past year. He also competed in Ultimate Fighter Championship’s TUF Season 12. For his part, Jesse is hands-down Saipan’s best lightweight fighter.

Both Ambrose and Jesse are riding winning streaks and have agreed to meet at the catch weight of 160 lbs.

The third and final main event of the evening is a heavyweight brawl between Trench Tech’s Mylo “AlabaMMA” Lassiter (2-0) and Marianas Elite’s Myron “The Natural” San Nicolas (5-2).

With San Nicolas fighting under current Pacific Xtreme Combat and Trench Tech People’s Champion, Kelvin “The Big Hit” Fitial, some words have already been exchanged between the pair as San Nicolas stands in the way of Lassiter, who wants a shot at the championship.

Perhaps overlooking San Nicolas, Lassiter has gone on record saying he wants the People’s Champ belt and wants a crack at Fitial to get it.

Lassiter has yet to face a worthy opponent with two swift first round victories, and although more experienced, San Nicolas has not been in the cage for two years.

Just before the main events, Trench Tech will unveil its first-ever featherweight title bout between home bet Shane “Pikaboo” Alavarez (6-0) and Marianas Elite’s Derrick “El’ Peligro” Rangamar (3-9).

Local MMA fans have been waiting to see this one go down for a very long time as both have built very respectable reputations in their careers.

Rangamar has faced the cream of the crop and never shied away from a fight (even if he is the smaller fighter), while Alvarez comes from an MMA family that knows the business inside out.

In addition, a special female boxing exhibition “rematch” is set between Guam’s top female boxer, 18-year-old Gianna “GiaBaby” Sarusal, of Dededo Boxing Club and Lights Out Gym, and Saipan’s Tara “The Tarantula” Namauleg at 150 lbs. These two met before in Guam for about a minute before the judges called it off due to Namauleg not having the proper protective equipment.

Other matchups include a second boxing exhibition between Trench Tech’s Mark “The Dark” Nuique and Zalaka’s Franklin Agulto at 155 lbs and four K-1 Kickboxing matches, which include Tinian’s Regino Mundo (3-0) of Zeng Zung against Guahan newcomer Justin “Dungka” Dizon of Guam Muay Thai at 150 lbs; Zalaka’s Jacob Ilo vs. Guam’s John Garcia of Counter Shot at 125 lbs; Haga’s Jordan “Jungle Boy” Ogo vs. Counter Shot’s Jared “Smiley Face” Santos at 120 lbs; and Pwang’s Pete Keju vs. Trench Tech’s Frank Muna in a double-debut at 160 lbs.

Notably, both Counter Shot K-1 fighters train under South Pacific Games Taekwondo gold medalist Sonny Chargualaf.

Seven other MMA bouts are listed on the fight card, which include Rangamar’s training partner, Irvin Saralu of Quarter Master Head Hunters taking on three-year Trench Tech student Vince Masga in a double-debut lightweight tiff; Myron’s little brother Derrick “The Headache” San Nicolas making his independent debut against Trench Tech’s Ryan “Trobz” Ngirbabul (1-0) at 195 lbs; longtime Counter Shot student Kevin Miranda against Trench Tech’s Josh “Chaos” Duenas (1-0) at 135 lbs; a double-debut match between Trench Tech’s Frankie Ramangmao and independent Leonard “J.C.” Cabrera at 135 lbs; Zalaka’s Joe “Da Combo” Duenas (1-0) against independent Jason “Ground Maintenance” Teregeyo (0-1) at 135 lbs; Trench Tech’s Walt “The Silent Assault” Florencio debuting against Kev “The Rev” Esteves (1-4) at 135 lbs; and a juicy grudge match between independents Brandon “Commotion” Camacho and Danny “Warrior” Santos at 145 lbs.

“ROP11-Onra is dedicated to all the heroes, civilians, and soldiers who fight the real wars around the world and is a tribute to their sacrifices,” said Alvarez.

He added that fights are subject to change.
