(Contributed Photo)

The Guam National Guard will continue to grow its facilities when it breaks ground on its newest multi-million dollar building during a ceremony on Thursday, Aug. 21, at 10am at the Barrigada Readiness Center.

The contract for the $7.35-million facility was awarded by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC) Marianas to P&S Construction, Inc, in September 2013 for the design and construction of an Assembly Hall with an expected completion date of April 2015.

The facility’s foremost function is to provide a venue for assembly of several units for the GUARNG for a variety of purposes. A few of these functions are processing soldiers for deployment, training, briefings, and ceremonies that require a large number of people gathered.

The project is to construct a single story Assembly Hall facility for units within the Guam Army National Guard (GUARNG). The facility will have a total maximum authorized gross floor area of 14,406 square feet and includes space for the Family Assistance Center and Pass and ID Center.

The project integrates sustainable strategies and features which will minimize energy consumption and conserve resources; minimize adverse effects to the environment; and improve occupant productivity, health and comfort as well as reduce the total cost of ownership of the project using a whole building, life-cycle approach.

The Assembly Hall is the second Guam National Guard facility to meet the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-New Construction (LEED-NC) Silver rating. (PR)

[4
46,55,67
post-176934","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news","tag-ceremony","tag-health-2","tag-people
["GET
