Five students from Itoda School in Japan arrived Monday evening and visited the Saipan Mayor\u2019s Office yesterday morning.<\/p>\n
The students from Itoda School are staying on Saipan for one week to experience the cultural exchange program with host families. They will be staying until Aug. 25.<\/p>\n
Eleven-year-olds Hiromi Nishino and Eito Nakamura are staying with one host family, while 10-year-olds Haruto Tachikawa, Seita Hiroki, and Kaito Nakashima are staying with one other host family as well.<\/p>\n
Saipan Mayor Marian Tudela said that she has so far enjoyed the program with students visiting from Japan to experience the diverse culture and local customs in the CNMI.<\/p>\n
Tudela also received generous gifts from the students.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am so happy to experience this program with students from Japan that want to learn about our culture here,\u201d Tudela said.<\/p>\n
According to program coordinator Yuki Kishimoto since she started handling the program, three separate groups have visited Saipan for homestay with one more arriving on November.<\/p>\n
It is the Itoda group\u2019s second time visiting Saipan and they have about 10 students.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis will help promote lasting relationship between Japan and Saipan because they have deep history together,\u201d Kishimoto said.<\/p>\n
The students did sightseeing on Saipan\u2019s historical sites and visited the Man\u2019amko Center.<\/p>\n
The students will be visiting and doing activities at Saipan World Resort. Tomorrow they will be heading to Managaha and on Friday they will be heading to Grace Christian Academy. The exchange students will spend time with their respective host families over the weekends before leaving for Japan next Monday.<\/p>\n
