A Superior Court jury began deliberating yesterday in the case against Kyle Cabael, a man accused of being part of a group that burglarized one of the rooms at Monte Vista Hotel and Restaurant in Navy Hill. <\/p>\n
The six jurors started deliberations at 5pm. After an hour, Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho sent them home and directed them to return at 8:15am today to resume deliberation.<\/p>\n
The trial began Monday.<\/p>\n
Assistant attorneys general James McAllister and Clayton Graef called a total of nine witnesses. Cabael\u2019s lawyer, Colin Thompson, called one witness.<\/p>\n
After the government rested, Thompson moved for acquittal. Camacho denied the motion and instructed the jury to decide on all three counts: burglary, theft, and conspiracy.<\/p>\n
Police said that cash and several items were stolen from one of the rooms at Monte Vista Hotel and Restaurant during the Feb. 17, 2014, burglary. A surveillance camera at a nearby store led to the arrest and filing of charges against Cabael and two co-defendants.<\/p>\n
