The annual scholarship awards totaling $12,000 are the most public and visible educational endeavor. We also sponsor a program begun in 2008: workshops for high school juniors and seniors. This year’s event was titled “Joining the Workforce” and gave students a better understanding of core abilities and issues (such as personal budgeting, balancing work and family expectations, communication skills, and résumé writing and interview tips.) These are useful life skills for anyone, whether they are heading off to college or immediately entering the workforce after graduation. Brownstein’s donation to the Saipan Chamber of Commerce will help fund all of these worthwhile projects.

This year’s annual golf tournament will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11, at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort with a two-person scramble format. The entry fee for players will be $100. Cash prizes include $800 for first place, $500 for second place, and $300 for third place for the three categories (Men’s Low Gross, Men’s Low Net (double Peoria), and Women’s Low Net (double Peoria). Fabulous raffle prizes will be given away during the banquet at the end of the tournament.

Hole sponsorships, ditty bag items, and raffle prizes are already being donated by NMI Crime Stoppers, J.C.
