(Jon Perez)<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nSeiya Eda emerged as the fastest runner among the close to 200 who participated and braved the early morning downpour in the 13th Annual Saipan International School Fun Run held last Saturday in Marpi.<\/p>\n<p>Eda led seven other age group winners that completed the 3.5-mile race from Banzai Cliff to Cowtown Raceway Park.<\/p>\n<p>He clocked in 22:48 to rule the boys\u2019 under-18 division and finish 12 seconds ahead of closest pursuer, Saipan\u2019s barefoot runner Chang Wang Jang, who registered 23:00 to top the adult men\u2019s category.<\/p>\n<p>Eda\u2019s time was 1:54 below Sean Smith\u2019s 20:54 record in last year\u2019s edition of the annual fun run, which is an annual fundraising event to support SiS\u2019 various projects.<\/p>\n<p>Lorie Hutchinson was third best overall with 23:05 to claim top honors in the women\u2019s adult class, while Victoria Chentsova reigned in the girls\u2019 under-18 with a time of 28:05.<\/p>\n<p>Rintaro Miyawaki and Malika Miyawaki won the boys\u2019 and girls\u2019 under-12 division with times of 23:13 and 27:39, respectively, while Ian Song and Sophia Lee earned the top spot in the boys\u2019 and girls\u2019 under-8 with records of 46:02 and 53:42 each.<\/p>\n<p>Organizers thanked all who participated and students, parents, school staff, and teachers who volunteered for the successful staging of the annual event.<\/p>\n<p>SIS personnel also thanked Saipan World Resort, Marianas Resort and Spa, DFS, The Coffee Room N106, Coca Cola, IT&#038;E, Smile Marianas, Brabu Pharmacy, Deloitte, Fishing Tackle &#038; Sporting Goods, Brother\u2019s Acupuncture Clinic, AIC Construction, Casa of Ate Song, Subway, The Law Office of Joshua Berger, Hardt Eye Clinic, Pacific Islands Club, The Hyatt Regency Saipan, Art &#038; Yoga with Kim, National Office Supply, Okadaya, Salty Saipan, Micronesian Marine, and the ACA Corp. for their generous contributions.
