As part of their commitment to conservation in our islands and in our skies, United recently donated two roundtrip tickets from Saipan to anywhere they fly in the United States to the Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance. The donation was made as part of MINA\u2019s annual fundraising event, the Green Gala, which will be held on Friday, Sept. 19, at Fiesta Resort and Spa.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very excited about United\u2019s contribution to the Green Gala. The donation of the tickets to the United States raises the anticipation for this year\u2019s event,\u201d said Frankie Eliptico, chairperson of MINA\u2019s board of directors. \u201cOne ticket will be featured at the Green Gala, while the other ticket will be used to bring a speaker to Saipan to share information with the community. We are grateful for United\u2019s commitment to MINA\u2019s work and island conservation and happy to welcome them as an Emerald sponsor.\u201d<\/p>\n
The leading conservation nonprofit organization in the Commonwealth, MINA has successfully implemented many projects, including the Obyan Rehabilitation Project, the Teacher Environmental Camp, the Marine Debris Prevention program, Tasi Watch Project, and the Adopt-A-Bin Project, which has placed recycle bins at all the major beaches on the island. The organization is supported by project grants and from generous contributions from local businesses and community members.<\/p>\n
In order to continue its efforts to preserve and protect the CNMI\u2019s fragile environment and biodiversity, MINA is seeking the community\u2019s participation in the Green Gala event. <\/p>\n
In addition to lively entertainment, dinner and a variety of beverages, the Green Gala will feature brief highlights from MINA\u2019s projects, a silent auction, and many other activities that promises a memorable evening. <\/p>\n
Last year\u2019s Green Gala was sold out, so organizers are encouraging those who plan to attend to buy their tickets early.<\/p>\n
Tickets for the Green Gala event can be purchased at the MINA Office in Gualo Rai or from any of the volunteer board members.<\/p>\n
