The competitive nature of the airline industry, the decisions driven by passenger counts from Guam, the change outcomes resulting from being domestic versus international are better understood. Much change—from in-flight service to familiar, caring flight crews to club locations—seemingly all at once—is hard for us who pay a great deal of money. However, the facts that United maintains a hub on Guam, provides economic opportunity to more than 1,000 local employees, provides medical transport off-island, and contributes hundreds of thousands of dollars to non-profit initiatives demonstrates their belief in our island. Sam’s assurance that customer service was a top training priority and that flight safety was a continuous objective had me thanking him for remaining and growing on Guam.
