{"id":178818,"date":"2014-09-10T04:00:14","date_gmt":"2014-09-09T18:00:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=178818"},"modified":"2014-09-10T04:00:14","modified_gmt":"2014-09-09T18:00:14","slug":"guam-water-authority-loses-testing-certification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/guam-water-authority-loses-testing-certification\/","title":{"rendered":"Guam water authority loses testing certification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>HAGATNA, Guam <\/strong>(AP)\u2014Guam\u2019s Environmental Protection Agency is taking away the water authority\u2019s certification to test drinking water for total coliform and E. coli.<\/p>\n<p>The Pacific Daily News reports the authority failed to identify a sample as positive for E. coli during recent proficiency tests.<\/p>\n<p>Guam EPA Administrator Eric Palacios said Friday the agency has been working with the Guam Waterworks Authority to make sure its laboratory can regain its certification.<\/p>\n<p>The agency will also run periodic samples for quality control.<\/p>\n<p>Palacios says reliable laboratory reports are critical for ensuring safe water.<\/p>\n<p>Coliforms and E. coli are bacteria.
