Kanile\u2019a Ukulele from Kaneohe, Hawaii, recently donated a beautiful Islander by Kanile\u2019a concert ukulele to the Marianas Ukulele Festival through its chair, Larry Lee. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe are proud and happy to support this inaugural ukulele festival in the Marianas and wish you all the success on your first festival,\u201d said Kanile\u2019a Ukulele owner and master Luthier Joseph N. Souza III. <\/p>\n
The first Marianas Ukulele Festival will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at the Tipiyeew Cultural Village \u2013 Carolinian Utt in Garapan, Saipan from 12pm to 6pm. The donated Kanile\u2019a ukulele is one of the top prizes that will be raffled off on the day of the festival.<\/p>\n
The Marianas Ukulele Festival Association is a registered, non-profit organization whose mission and focus are: <\/p>\n
– to promote and perpetuate ukulele music and heritage by bringing people of all ages together to share the love of ukulele music;<\/p>\n
– to create an avenue for people of all cultures to share the island warmth and Hafa Adai Tirow Spirit through the enjoyment of ukulele music; and<\/p>\n
-to present a free annual ukulele festival in the Northern Mariana Islands that will:<\/p>\n
–showcase the various talents of ukulele players in the NMI;<\/p>\n
–feature ukulele enthusiasts from around the region and attract hundreds of visitors to the CNMI;<\/p>\n
–have booths selling local food and drinks, and local arts and handicrafts. <\/p>\n
