Bordallo (D-GU) announced yesterday that the U.S. Department of Justice has awarded Guam $622,594 in federal grant assistance.<\/p>\n<p>The Office of the Attorney General was awarded $414,754 through the Office for Victims of Crime\u2019s fiscal year 2014 VOCA Victim Assistance program. This formula grant will help the Attorney General\u2019s Ofice respond to a wide variety of crimes and enhance services provided to victims on Guam.<\/p>\n<p>The Guam Coalition Against Sexual Assault and Family Violence, Inc. was awarded $207,840 through the Office of Violence Against Women\u2019s Grants to State Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Coalitions Program. This grant will assist the coalition coordinate victim services and collaborate with federal and local entities to respond to violence against women issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese funds will help improve public safety and provide much needed support to victims of crime on Guam,\u201d said Bordallo. \u201cThe grants are part of the DOJ\u2019s continued efforts to ensure that local law enforcement entities and community organizations are equipped to better serve their communities.
