\nTeam Angel went undefeated to clinch the crown in the final edition of the Sta. Remedios slow-pitch softball fundraising tournament held over the weekend at the Capital Hill Ballfield.<\/p>\n

Team Angel went undefeated against five other teams, including Team Akarri, in the elimination round to clinch the top seeding in the winners bracket.<\/p>\n

They won three more matches in the playoff round after that and was declared the champions by the organizers after the rains won\u2019t stop last Sunday.<\/p>\n

Team Mamaaw and Team 45 No More Rice came in third second and third, respectively.<\/p>\n

The Rey Saralu-led Team Akarri, which topped the first edition of the tournament after a 15-9 thumping of Natibu two weeks ago, failed in their title bid as they got eliminated in the playoffs.<\/p>\n

The tournament is a fundraising event for next month\u2019s Sta. Remedios Fiesta in Tanapag.<\/p>\n

A total of 15 teams joined the two editions of the fundraising event.<\/p>\n

During the first tournament, held from Sept. 5 to 7, Saralu was consistent with his hitting to power Akarri to the title. His sacrifice fly RBI in the top of the fifth highlighted his team\u2019s comeback from a four-run deficit.<\/p>\n

Organizers of the softball fundraiser said they collected enough money that will cover the expenses of holding the feat day of the Our Lady of Remedies on Oct. 12.<\/p>\n
