Monroyo)<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nMP United Football Club began its title defense bid in the boys U18 division of the 2014 NMIFA Fall League with a 4-2 victory over Matansa Football Club last Saturday at the Oleai Sports Complex Field.<\/p>\n<p>Jehn Joyner led MP United\u2019s first win of the season, making two goals, while Tanapon Unsa and Jireh Yobech chipped in one apiece. Ryu Tanzawa and Evan Belcher scored for Matansa FC.<\/p>\n<p>Unsa started things out for the defending champion, lighting up the board in the seventh minute, while Joyner and Yobech found their targets in the 34th and 38th minute to lift MP United to a 3-0 halftime lead. MP United made it a 4-0 advantage with Joyner getting his second goal in the 57th minute, while Tanzawa broke Matansa\u2019s silence with his goal five minutes later and Belcher added one more five minutes before their morning match wrapped up.<\/p>\n<p>In other U18 results, Tan Holdings FC nipped Paire, 1-0, in a morning match at the Hopwood Junior High School Field, while Paire\u2019s late evening match versus MP United at the Oleai pitch was rescheduled.<br \/>\nYoshi Mafnas scored in the second half to give Tan Holdings its second victory in as many games. Tan Holdings prevailed in its season debut on Sept. 13, routing Matansa, 10-0.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BOYS U15 MP United 6, Shirley\u2019s FC 0 MP United 3, Paire FC 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MP United was also triumphant in the boys U15 division, sweeping all its two games over the weekend at the Oleai pitch.<\/p>\n<p>MP United first face Shirley\u2019s DC and cruised to a 6-0 victory in the morning match. SunJoon Tenorio starred in MP United\u2019s whipping of Shirley\u2019s FC after canning back-to-back goals in the first half (17th and 22nd minute). The four other goals came from Alex Park, Edwin Kim, Steven Goodwin, and Michael Lee.<\/p>\n<p>Lee returned to the Oleai pitch to play their rescheduled match against Paire FC and this time it was his turn to nail a pair of goals and lift MP United to a 3-1 win. The Paire-MP United tiff was originally set for Sept. 12, but was moved to last week due to the unavailability of the Oleai pitch.<\/p>\n<p>Tenorio drilled the other goal late in the second half of the make-up game, while Lee\u2019s two straight goals were recorded in the first half (9th and 17th minute). Anthony Fruit gave Paire its lone goal, scoring in the 20th minute.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shirley\u2019s FC 5, Kanoa FC 2<\/strong><br \/>\nShirley\u2019s also played back-to-back games last weekend and managed to win one after downing Kanoa FC, 5-2.<\/p>\n<p>Toby Jones and Ichiro Borja earned two goals apiece for Shirley\u2019s FC, while Joseph Rasa contributed one. Jones broke the ice with his goal in the 16th minute to put Shirley\u2019s on top, but Kanoa quickly equalized off J.D. Jose\u2019s goal seven minutes later. Kanoa then grabbed the upper hand, 2-1, thanks to Sebastian Manabat\u2019s shot in the 27th minute.<\/p>\n<p>Kanoa\u2019s hold on the lead lasted for only 11 minutes, as Shirley\u2019s countered with two goals to regain the driver\u2019s seat, 3-2. Borja scored in the 39th minute, while Jones got his second goal six minutes later. Borja then duplicated Jones\u2019 fete with his second goal in the 60th minute and Rasa lit up the board anew for Shirley\u2019s in the 76th minute, while Kanoa failed to retaliate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kanoa FC 11, Matansa FC 0<\/strong><br \/>\nA few hours after losing to Shirley\u2019s FC, Kanoa bounced back with an 11-0 demolition of Matansa FC.<\/p>\n<p>Six different players scored in Kanoa\u2019s trashing of Matansa. Manabat tallied two, while Kirt Andon, Ian Benjamin, Andrew Omelao, and Angelo Ada added one apiece.
