(Thomas Manglona II)<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nMount Carmel School\u2019s Class of 1994 donated a slide and monkey bars to their alma mater with the hopes of promoting healthy living among the student body and in celebration of their 20th class reunion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe put our heart and soul into this project and are thrilled to give back to the school,\u201d said MCS alumna Maisie Tenorio. \u201cWe decided to celebrate our 20th reunion by giving back to our alma mater. Our family was created in the hallways of Mt. Carmel. What a better way to say \u2018thanks!\u2019 than to improve the learning environment for current students.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The class raised the $12,000 needed for the project by selling hot lunch plates, hosting Comedy Knight, and Educational Tax Credit donations.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow AlumKnights Lucile Kaufer and Polly Deleon Guerrero Masga said they grew up with monkey bars during their childhood and wanted \u201cthe current students to have the same experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Several members of the class presented the new playground to the school\u2019s entire faculty and student body during an assembly on Monday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>School president Galvin Deleon Guerrero said it has always been the vision of a school to have a place on campus devoted to a full playground and other athletic facilities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe research shows that a healthy body equals a healthy mind. With this playground, you can have fun while staying healthy,\u201d he told the students at the assembly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mount Carmel School chaplain Fr. Rey Rosal attended the presentation and blessed the new facility.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>One grade school student ran to the new monkey bars immediately after the blessing. \u201cI am so happy that we have this now. I can play and have fun with my friends, \u201c she said.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the personal donations from the Class of 1994, the project received donations from other organizations as well.
