Sailors assigned to Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Antietam participated in a community relations event at Mount Carmel School on Sept. 29.<\/p>\n
Mount Carmel School provides education from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and serves the student body with a liberal preparatory curriculum to facilitate learning at every level.<\/p>\n
During the event sailors went from class to class, talking about their lives in the Navy and answering student\u2019s questions about what they did.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe kids were great and it was cool to talk to them about what we do,\u201d said Interior Communication Electrician 3rd Class Jessica Mann. \u201cThey had a lot of questions for us, and we got to ask some questions and hear a little about them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sailors also read to students, played volleyball and basketball during recess, and made time to take plenty of photos.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had a lot of fun hanging out with the students,\u201d said Boatswain\u2019s Mate 3rd Class Jacob Bashiom. \u201cI had a great time playing volleyball with them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Antietam is on patrol with the George Washington Carrier Strike Group in the 7th Fleet area of operations supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
