Monroyo)<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nVolunteer timers got their baptism of fire in Northern Mariana Islands Swimming Federation\u2019s first meet for the 2014-2015 season held last Saturday at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool in Marpi.<\/p>\n<p>NMISF\u2019s Carol-Lynn Calobong-Pierce said they have several new timers from both Saipan Swim Club and Tsunami Swimming Center Saipan and last weekend\u2019s event served as their first official tournament.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are getting the hang of it (timing races). We need to continue training them as there are more meets to come this season,\u201d said Pierce, who helped conduct the competition along with Bobby Winkfield and other volunteers from both clubs and NMISF officials.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-one events took place in NMISF\u2019s first timed tournament and results are being finalized at press time and will be out once they were made official.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 21 events, the 50m freestyle swim drew the most participants, as 30 joined the race and they were divided into six heats. Heat 1 had Tsunami Saipan\u2019s Aasish Dangol and David Ahn and SSC\u2019s Cory Lee, while Wataru Kadokura, Manuel Babauta, and Jonathan Shu made up Heat 2.<\/p>\n<p>The four other heats featured six swimmers each. Heat 3 had Tsunami\u2019s Rentaro Suzuki, who entered the race with the top PBT (55.54 seconds), and was joined by teammate Gabriel Retardo and Kenta Tomie, and SSC Matthew Zedde, Jefferey Sheu and Dino Sato. In Heat 4, SSC\u2019s Richard Villagomez had the fastest PBT (41.07 seconds) and raced against fellow SSC member Dominic Zedde and Akira Kadokura and Tsunami Saipan\u2019s Hans Zu, Isaiah Aleksenko, and Arman Rechucher.<\/p>\n<p>Another SSC bet, David Boyer, owned the fastest PBT (32.87 seconds) on Heat 5, which also included his teammates Jinnosuke Suzuki, Rintarao Miyawaki, and Leo Takahashi and Tsunami Saioan\u2019s Ja Min Elliot and Anthony Camacho-Deleon Guerrero. <\/p>\n<p>Four SSC swimmers and two Tsunami Saipan members also made up the final heat.
