A 30-member group of man\u2019amko from Guam visited the Office on Aging yesterday for socials and a get-together with their Saipan counterparts.<\/p>\n
The Guam man\u2019amko were accompanied by four chaperones, including Mangilao Mayor Nonito C. Blas, who made the initial contact with Aging about bringing the man\u2019amko together.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey visited and wanted to spend time with our man\u2019amko and it was great idea to bring them here and socialize with our clients,\u201d said an Office on Aging statement.<\/p>\n
Yesterday\u2019s programs and activities kicked off with Aging\u2019s very own man\u2019amko band composed of Jess Pangelinan, Eden Liwag, and Aging\u2019s staff Orlando Limes performing for the visitors.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were also honored with the presence of Guam artist Danny Orlino who sang with the man\u2019amko band,\u201d Aging said.<\/p>\n
Orlino is a well-known, award-winning artist. <\/p>\n
According to the Aging Office, the 18th CNMI Legislature assisted them through the Seniors Advisory Council, who asked for help on providing transportation, among other services.<\/p>\n
The visiting man\u2019amko funded their trip to the CNMI through their own fundraisers, such as bingo games.<\/p>\n
It was their second time to visit Saipan.<\/p>\n
According to Aging office, the Guam man\u2019amko found the center beautiful, has a lot of things going on, and has more people than before. They sang karaoke, watched TV, played pool, ping-pong, and basketball and shared jokes and stories. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe also shared ideas with the visiting man\u2019amko,\u201d Aging office said. <\/p>\n
The visiting man\u2019amko will be back at the center this morning and will go sightseeing, shopping and other leisure activities in the afternoon. They will be leaving this Friday.<\/p>\n
Aging said that it was a good idea for the man\u2019amko of both islands to mingle because it creates a bond.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a great idea because if we decide to go to Guam, it will be great to have the CNMI link up with the neighboring island and we might go up to Guam to visit them as well,\u201d Aging said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
