The public hospital is well on its way to beefing up its roster of healthcare providers, according to Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. chief executive officer Esther Mu\u00f1a yesterday.<\/p>\n
About 11 new healthcare providers were hired over the past months and the Commonwealth Health Center is awaiting one more this month, said Mu\u00f1a in an email to Saipan Tribune.<\/p>\n
According to Mu\u00f1a, the latest additions are at the emergency department, obstetrics-gynecology department, pediatric department, internal medicine, surgery department, and dental clinic.<\/p>\n
Dr. Jeremy S. Devey is the newest addition to the emergency department. Dr. Maria Hy recently joined the OB-GYN department. There are four new pediatric staff: Dr. Tiffany Lin, Dr. Elizabeth Triche, Dr. Elizabeth Dobler, and Dr. Tong Wooi. <\/p>\n
The two healthcare providers in internal medicine are nurse practitioner Helen Williams and Dr. Elizabeth Kohnen. The surgery department now has Dr. Brian Fitch and Dr. Stepehn Katz, while Dr. Adam Gentry is the newest dentist.<\/p>\n
The other healthcare provider that will join CHC this month will be at internal medicine.<\/p>\n
Mu\u00f1a said that they are focusing on hiring specialized providers such as ENT, cardiology, neurology and ortho. They are also looking for a midlevel healthcare provider for Tinian.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is the goal of CHCC to have adequate providers to meet the needs of the community. The community needs primary care for chronic disease management,\u201d Mu\u00f1a said.<\/p>\n
She said that having adequate physicians in internal medicine gives more time for them to see patients in the clinic and in the hospital wards.<\/p>\n
