Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan has received the re-election endorsement of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus Leadership PAC. Rep. Judy Chu (D\u2013Calif.), Chairman of the Caucus, congratulated Sablan in the endorsement letter as being \u201cthe candidate best suited to promote and protect the civil and political rights of the Asian American and Pacific Islander community for the Northern Mariana Islands.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI am grateful to my fellow members of Congress, who form the Asian Pacific American Caucus, for their support,\u201d said Sablan. \u201cAnd I hope that voters in the Northern Mariana Islands will allow me to return to work with the Caucus in the next Congress.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have much to do to raise the profile of Pacific Islanders and Asian Americans in our nation and to ensure that our people have the same opportunities and recognition as other Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sablan was selected by the Asian Pacific American Caucus to be the chairman of its Task Force on Education, a key area of concern for Asians and Pacific Islanders nationwide. Sablan is also a member of the Committee on Education and the Workforce in the U.S. House of Representatives.<\/p>\n
The CAPAC Leadership PAC is dedicated to the goal of increasing the representation of Asian and Pacific Islanders in the U.S. Congress to achieve fair representation. Asian and Pacific Islanders are the fastest growing population in the American community.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Caucus embodies the idea of an America where people of all ethnicities and backgrounds are welcome,\u201d Sablan said. \u201cI am the Micronesian-American. We have Polynesian-American members, Chinese-Americans, Korean-Americans, Japanese-Americans, a Filipino-American, and an Indian-American. We are Buddhists, Hindu, Catholics, and Protestants.<\/p>\n
\u201cDespite those differences, we all share a common value. We all are dedicated to improving the lives of the people we work for.<\/p>\n
