The reservoir was initially funded by Public Law 13-48, but was later reprogrammed under Public Law 15-111, essentially delaying the project.

Acting governor Jude U. Hofschneider commended Pedro Sasamoto, program manager of the Water Task Force, for the completion of the project’s design, scope of work, and budget. From local and OMB-CIP funds, a call for proposal requests for the construction phase will be issued at the end of this month.

“I thank the Water Task Force for issuing the RFPs and the Office of Management and Budget for identifying funds for the 0.5MG reservoir for Tinian. I’m pleased that Tinian is moving forward with this important project as well as the seaport rehabilitation. Our current reservoir is in need of repair and the construction of the new one will provide a backup. Not only that, but considering the planned increases in economic development projects coupled with the military’s use of Tinian, both reservoirs will be sufficient to provide for the residents’ daily needs and in times of drought.”

Capital Improvement Project funding was identified for this project through support from the Office of Insular Affairs. (PR)

The residents of Tinian will soon find relief once the construction of the Tinian 0.5MG…

[4
20,616
post-182650","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local-news","tag-budget","tag-water-task-force
["GET
