The CK Blazers scorched NMC Proa, 63-39, during their U19 division game in the 2011 Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League last Monday at the TSL Sports Complex.<\/p>\n

The win improved the Blazers’ card to 2-4, while Proa (1-3) has yet to win a game on the court, as its lone victory came via forfeit.<\/p>\n

The Blazers got right to work after the tip and amassed a 19-6 lead in the opening eight minutes. Brandon Aulerio led the charge with nine points and received a pair of three-pointers from Jody Kaipat.<\/p>\n

Then Patrick Torres caught fire with a string of 11 points in the second quarter to help the Blazers stretch the lead to 14 at halftime, 36-22.<\/p>\n

Proa’s Josephus Aguilar provided the bulk of his team’s offense with eight markers in the first half.<\/p>\n

The pace of the match slowed down after the break, but the Blazers still maintained a healthy 44-29 margin heading into the final period.<\/p>\n

Proa managed a couple of treys to start the fourth quarter, but could not climb out of the hole, absorbing its third loss in four matches.<\/p>\n

Torres led all scorers with 20 points, while Jason Palacios turned in a team-high 12 in the loss.<\/p>\n

Action in the youth caging will continue tomorrow with a doubleheader. The second-ranked Ol’Aces (3-1) take on Kagman (1-2) at 5pm, while Proa looks to bounce back against Rollers 1 (1-4) at 6pm.<\/p>\n

For the U15 division games this Saturday, RBC’s 670 Rollers face the Junior Ol’Aces at 11am, while RBC\/Micronesian Brokers, Inc. duels sister-team Angels at 12:30pm. Then the last game of the day at 2pm will feature the two female teams in the field, as the Party Rockers square off against Kunoichi.<\/p>\n

CK Blazers 63 – Torres 20, Aulerio 15, Kaipat 14, Benavente 6, Eughbanks 4, Tenorio 2, Camacho 2.<\/p>\n

NMC Proa – Palacios 12, Aguilar 10, Samson 9, G. Habijan 6, Cruzat 2.<\/p>\n
