\nVince \u201cThe Clinch\u201d Masga won his debut in last Friday\u2019s Pacific Xtreme Combat 45 held at the University of Guam Fieldhouse in Mangilao.<\/p>\n

Masga\u2019s victory gave the CNMI a 1-1 record in Guam\u2019s premier MMA event. Shane \u201cPikaboo\u201d Alvarez was the other Saipan-based fighter who saw action in last Friday\u2019s competition and lost to Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Darren Uyenoyama (8-5) via technical knockout in the first round. Alvarez absorbed only his second defeat in 12 bouts.<\/p>\n

Masga kicked off the event with a dominant unanimous decision win over Guam\u2019s McKlane Alfred (3-1).<\/p>\n

He improved his mixed martial arts record to 5-1 with his lone loss registered against Ricky Camp in Rites of Passage 16: Unleashed in April 11 this year.<\/p>\n

Masga was the aggressor from the start and dominated the entire bout as he always went for an early take down in all three rounds. He had numerous chances of ending the bout early by submission but a number of times Alfred managed to get out of his chokes. Masga then used his strength and defense to foil Alfred\u2019s chances of turning the match to his favor to earn the nod from all three judges.<\/p>\n

With the impressive victory, Masga made true to his promise of avenging the losses of Trench Tech teammates Josh \u201cChaos\u201d Duenas and Mark \u201cThe Dark\u201d Nuique to Alfred.<\/p>\n

Six other fights were featured in PXC 45 with hometown bet Kyle Aguon clinching the vacant bantamweight belt after scoring a split decision win over Filipino Rolando Dy in the main event.<\/p>\n

In other matches, Alex Volkanovski scored a unanimous decision win over Kyle Reyes, while Trevin Jones defeated Toby Misech by split decision. Brogan Walker, in the lone female bout, also scored a unanimous decision victory against Yoojin Jung. Hong Seung Chan and Scotty Eclavea defeated Tyrone Jones and Mike Sanchez, respectively, also by unanimous decisions. (Jon Perez)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
