(MTEC)<\/figcaption><\/figure><br \/>\nProceeds from the 5th Annual Docomo Pacific Golf Classic will provide more opportunities for the Marianas Tourism Education Council to educate the community, especially the youth about the importance of tourism.<\/p>\n<p>Docomo Pacific general manager James Nelson, who organizes the annual golf tournament, handed over a check for $14,627.32 on Oct. 23 to be used for MTEC programs. <\/p>\n<p>Nelson also recognized the numerous businesses who contributed to the golf classic, saying, \u201cEvery year, the Docomo Pacific Golf Classic garners sponsorship from NMI businesses, because we know it is vital that we invest in tourism, in order to achieve positive changes in our community.\u201d  <\/p>\n<p>MTEC chair Vicky Benavente expressed appreciation to the volunteers and participants of the annual event.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMTEC continues to repeat the slogan \u2018Tourism is Everybody\u2019s Business\u2019 because without community involvement, the islands\u2019 tourism industry will not thrive, or we wouldn\u2019t be able to compete as a travel destination,\u201d Benavente said.<\/p>\n<p>MTEC treasurer Christopher Lubi added, \u201cIt really feels great that there are private businesses like Docomo Pacific whose support makes a great deal of difference in the service of our community.
