\nMarianas High School\u2019s varsity squad remained undefeated in the ongoing 2014 Marianas Interscholastic Sports Organization Girls Basketball League at the MHS Gymnasium.<\/p>\n

The Lady Dolphins, unofficially, are currently 4-0 after posting one of the most lopsided victories against the Kagman High School Ayuyus\u2019 varsity side this season.<\/p>\n

MHS has been banking on a solid unit built behind Neghar Rastguiy, Kyla Ito, Dianne Pablo, Joy Pena, and Mikayla Lopez, who had been dishing out double-digit numbers in their past few matches. All five players had a combined average of 55 points per game with Rastguiy leading the bunch with 13 per outing.<\/p>\n

The defending champions were merciless in their latest victory\u2014a 67-6 whipping of the Lady Ayuyus last October 29\u2014or two days before the league had a brief break due to the Halloween festivities on Friday and preparation for the election yesterday.<\/p>\n

The Lady Dolphins held a team scoreless for the first time in one quarter this season, as Kagman failed to buy a bucket against MHS\u2019 sticky defense. The Lady Ayuyus also committed a number of errors and these certainly did not help their cause.<\/p>\n

The Lady Ayuyus, who are now 2-3, only scored 7 points the entire game with 4 coming in the second period, 2 in the third quarter and 1 in the final canto. Hannelyn Cabrera, Juanita Jettley, and Natasha Ngirausui made 2 markers each, while Rose Jones had a solitary point.<\/p>\n

The Lady Dolphins, in contrast, had 10 players who scored 2 or more points with Rastguiy leading the way with 14, while Lopez and Pablo scattered 12 apiece. Pena finished with 11 markers.<\/p>\n

MHS also found Mt. Carmel School to be an easy opponent after posting a 26-point win over the Lady Knights last week, 63-37.<\/p>\n

The Lady Dolphins pulled away early and erected a 12-point edge after the 10 minutes of play with Ito and Pablo alternating in scoring the points for MHS.<\/p>\n

MHS used its homecourt edge to its full advantage in the second period and made shot after shot to put the game away further. The Lady Dolphins scored 21 points, while holding the Lady Knights to 5, their lowest output since the league opened on Oct. 1.<\/p>\n

The Preston Basa-coached squad was never threatened from thereon for the lopsided win.<\/p>\n

Ito led MHS, scoring 19 points, while Rastguiy, Pablo and Pena contributed 12, 10 and 10 respectively. <\/p>\n

Travilla was the lone Lady Knight to break the 10-point barrier with her 13 markers.<\/p>\n

In other game results last Wednesday, Oct. 29, Mt. Carmel School bounced back from the loss to MHS after breezing past Saipan Southern High School, 68-44.<\/p>\n

Karleen Reyes led the Lady Knights with her season-high 23 points, while Travilla and Jennifer Villagomez added 17 and 14 markers, respectively. Jamilla Alegre and Veronne Babauta added 10 points each for the Lady Manta Rays.<\/p>\n

Saipan Southern, before the thrashing it received from MCS, was coming off a 44-38 victory over MHS 9 on Oct. 27.<\/p>\n

Serafina Rogoyawa used her size advantage to the hilt and frolicked inside the paint en route to a team-high 22 points. Alyanna Garon scored a game-high 24 markers for MHS 9, while Shaina Abadilla chipped in 10.<\/p>\n

In another game last week, Kagman survived MHS\u2019 junior varsity\u2019s second-half comeback bid to escape with a 26-22 win.<\/p>\n

No player from both teams broke the double-digit mark with Ngirausui and Marcy Ermitanio ending up with 8 apiece for Kagman and MHS, respectively.<\/p>\n

In an all-MHS tiff, MHS 9 outlasted MHS junior varsity, 25-23, with Garon scoring 11 for the former and Martina Ada making 14 for the latter.<\/p>\n
